This Serene Miami Home Is A Celebration Of Intentional Living

Known for her eclectic, upbeat, and Latin-rooted interpretations of contemporary design, Colombia-born, Florida-based creative Marcela Cure provides her unique take on a six-bedroom, six-bathroom Miami residence. Built on a large lot, the 6,000-square-foot home is surrounded by landscaped grounds with a large pool. “My design approach focused on enhancing the connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring that the elegance and functionality of the interior matched the beauty of the exterior,” says Cure, whose practice includes both interiors and collectible decorative pieces.

The property’s natural light immediately caught her attention and inspired the soothing palette of nudes and pastel tones, which is complemented with occasional metallic accents. “I wanted something that conveyed Miami’s coastal lifestyle but in a less predictable, more intimate way,” Cure describes.

The original layout lacked flow, with its many separate spaces that made the house feel cramped. The designer worked on opening it up, introducing more functionality for the homeowners who love to host gatherings with their children and grandchildren. As a result, the kitchen, which has become the heart of the home, and the public living areas are where the family spends the most time together.

Throughout the different areas, a material palette of wood, leather, brass, stone and woven textures accentuates the natural feel and peaceful vibe. “My inspiration came from the natural setting of the property: the large pool, the expansive green areas, and the sense of calm and luxury they create,” explains Cure. “I wanted to bring openness and tranquility into the interiors while maintaining an atmosphere of refined sophistication.”

Many furnishings are custom-made, ensuring the creation of a cohesive ambience. “One of the challenges was aligning my more expressive, daring style with my client’s more conservative preferences,” confesses Cure. “They were initially hesitant to move beyond their comfort zone, but eventually they opened up and we found a perfect balance that truly brought the house to life.”

Showcasing handcrafted details and a timeless design, the residence feels both elegant and warm, with a natural energy that perfectly fits the homeowners’ lifestyle.
